Press/Orga: VILE

Year: 1977
Country: United States
Format: Mag/Lit
Description:
Genesis P-Orridge, Monte Cazazza in: Summer 1977. Vol. 3 No. 2 – Vile International with cover photo of Cavellini writing on nude male (above).   Published and dated Summer 1977. Editor and producer: Anna Banana.   Format: 8.5 x 11″, 98 pages perfect bound, edition of 1000. VILE magazine (a parody of FILE magazine by A.A. Bronson) is an early Mail Art publication featuring Bay Area DADA disruptionists like Bill Gaglione. Irene Dogmatic (Punk band SST), Ray Johnson, Dick Higgins, and others. Chock-full of crazy collages, photos, artworks, letters, essays, drawings and fake ads for non-existent products, this is one of the unknown underground’s essential canonic publication, bursting at the seams with lasting humor and absurdity a la Alfred Jarry.
